PE Home Learning Activities Further Information & Guidance for Parents
Morning Work Out (E&O – HWB 1-25a PE SAL – Stamina)
Join Joe ‘The Body Coach’ Wicks every school day to keep fit and active. His first six weeks have seen millions of
viewers participate and attempt fun workouts with quiz challenges, spot the differences and even dress up Friday.
    Sessions available at www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
Animal Movements (E&O – HWB 0-22a PE SAL – Creativity)
Can you move like an animal? Draw pictures of different animals, get an adult to cut them out and put them in a bowl. Play with another member
of your family. Take turns to pick an animal out of the bowl and move like that animal. E.g. snake – slithering on your tummy. Make it competitive
and play for points or even make it a team game when you have to guess what animal your teammate is acting out.
    Pupil Choice (E&O – HWB 0-25a PE SAL – Responsibility & Leadership)
Each home setting provides different opportunities for PE activities. As part of their home learning, pupils are encouraged to plan and create games and
training stations that challenge and consolidate their skills. This can include performing a range of shots towards a basketball hoop, timing a cycle around a
pre-planned route or creating a skipping challenge in your back garden. Be creative and choose something that you want to do.
Physical Activity Bingo (E&O – HWB 0-25a PE SAL – Decision Making)
The Youth Sport Trust have designed a fun Physical Activity Games that includes a range of fitness activities and sporting challenges. Complete the activities
to win the game. Simple instructions are included on the Bingo sheet at the link below. There are a lot of activities, so the game doesn’t have to be
    completed in one go.

Hopscotch (E&O – HWB 0-25a PE SAL – Balance and Control)
This traditional playground game can be played outside or inside. It is a great way for your child to develop their balance and control.
See the link for how to play - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZzswQaICfM
   Monkey Dance (E&O – HWB 0-21a PE SAL – Rhythm & Timing)
Use the ‘Just Dance’ video to lead you through a series of dance moves to the ‘The Monkey Dance’ song. Each successful moves earns you points. Try to keep up
with the animals and practice to see if you can complete the dance without making mistakes – a BIG challenge! I would recommend watching the video first.
‘The Monkey Dance’ for Just Dance can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpdRc9L97TY
   Throw, Clap & Catch! (E&O – HWB 0-22a PE SAL – Focus & Concentration)
A difficult skill! This challenge involves your child throwing a soft item (ball, beanbag, etc) into the air and catching it. After they accomplish this,
can they add a clap? Throw, clap and catch! Challenge – Add more claps before catching. How many can the adults do?
   Fast Feet (E&O – HWB 0-21a PE SAL – Balance & Control)
Can you use your feet to dribble with a ball? Remember to use gentle touches to guide the ball around your course.
Follow the link for the challenge card - https://www.youthsporttrust.org/sites/default/files/Fast%20Feet.pdf
Ping Pong Maths (E&O – HWB 0-24a PE SAL – Gross & Fine Motor Skills)
Create this simple game by writing numbers on cups (or something similar) and set them up in a triangle. Just bounce a small ball / bouncy ball
/ ping pong ball into the cup to score points. Encourage your child to the read number. For a bigger challenge use the numbers to create an addition
   or subtraction sum.
Food Groups (E&O – HWB 0-32a PE SAL – Creativity)
What different types of food do you eat each day? Do you know what food groups they belong to? Can you sort food into
the following groups: Fruit, Vegetables, Meat, Grains and Dairy? Draw pictures of the items or even just use food items
around your house. The picture opposite shows an example of this activity. With the help of an adult, discuss why it is
Important to eat a variety of food.
Cosmic Kids Yoga (E&O – HWB 0-21a PE SAL – Flexibility)
Another yoga story from the Cosmic Kids crew. This storytelling approach incorporates a variety of yoga movements and stretches. Each session has a
Different context – this one has a Star Wars theme. Access the video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAT5NiWHFIU
Daily Mile (E&O – HWB 0-25a PE SAL – Stamina)
Continue with our Daily Mile activity at home by using nearby space in the garden or nearby green space. Please ensure that an adult knows where and when you
are doing this activity, better still take them with you!
       Points to consider -
       - All you tube videos and links have been checked and are safe for your children to view. Further links from the videos have not all been viewed so parent
support and permission may be needed if your child is navigating away from the recommended page.
       - Please check with Government advice during this period of ‘home learning’ to ensure that activities can be carried out safely if utilising outdoor space.
       - The following slide includes an overview of the Early Level Experience & Outcomes (E&Os) and PE Significant Aspect of Learning (SALs). This overview is
            given purely for reference.
       - Please remember that the grid and activities are only suggestions for activities. We appreciate that during this time there are a lot of constraints on what
you can do at home. Look after each other, have fun and WASH YOUR HANDS!
