LIST OF MILLS POTENTIALLY CONNECTED TO L’ORÉAL’S 
                    PALM-BASED OLEODERIVATIVES SUPPLY CHAIN IN 2021 
                           TOP 90% OF 2021 VOLUMES  
          
         As a cosmetic manufacturer, L’Oréal uses annually 310 tons of palm oil each year (from the pulp of the 
         palm fruit). L’Oréal also purchases palm derivatives, in a quantity equivalent to approximatively 88,500 
          tons of palm oil and palm kernel oil (extracted from the kernel of the palm fruit), from its suppliers – 
         surfactants and oleochemicals manufacturers. These manufacturers source directly or indirectly from 
         other manufacturers, traders, primary and secondary refiners and crushing plants, which are potentially 
           connected to thousands of mills on the ground, which makes the palm derivatives supply chain 
         singularly complex. Every year, L’Oréal – via consultations with direct and indirect suppliers carried out 
         by an independent third party – conducts an in-depth investigation of its supply chain in order to map 
                             out its sourcing areas. 
         The list of 944 mills disclosed below, potentially connected to L’Oréal’s top 90% volumes of palm-based 
          oleoderivatives, results from the 2021 supply chain mapping work. These mills are located mainly in 
         Indonesia (72.8%) and Malaysia (26.96%), which are the main sourcing areas, followed by Guatemala, 
           Cambodia, Thailand, Papua New Guinea representing together 0.25%. At the province level, the 
         mapping showed that L’Oréal’s top 90% volumes originate from 42 provinces, with the top 5 provinces 
            being: Jambi (18%), North Sumatra (16%), Riau (15%), Sabah (12%) and Peninsular (12%). 
         The identification of the provenance of our sources provides L’Oréal with the basis for a preliminary risk 
         assessment, for field-level verification and most of all for engaging with its direct and indirect suppliers 
          towards ensuring compliance with L’Oréal’s Forest Policy in line with No Deforestation, No Peat, No 
                             Exploitation principles. 
         The complementary list of mills potentially connected to L’Oréal’s remaining 10% of volumes is available 
          upon request. In total, it covers 1,979 mills located in 27 countries including Indonesia and Malaysia. 
           More particularly, we source from Colombia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Ghana, Ivory Coast, 
         Honduras, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Brazil, Solomon Islands, India, Cambodia, Nigeria, Nicaragua, 
         Panama, Liberia, Mexico, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Gabon, Philippines, Peru, Venezuela, and Cameroon, each 
         country representing less than 0.5% of L’Oréal’s volumes of palm-based oleoderivatives in 2021. Those 
         mills and sourcing origins have a much lower probability of being connected to L’Oréal’s supply chain.
