The teacher’s driver comes from their ability to meet those needs as determined the by each classroom’s need. How do the two drivers meet the challenge? MOD 3 CHAMPS 77 Classroom Structure (Example) Using the pencil sharpener Low Structure 1) When someone is not teaching or speaking to the class. 2) When you need to sharpen your pencil. Medium Structure 1) When there is no line at the pencil sharpener. 2) Sharpen quietly with no talking. 3) Respect personal space of others along your way. High Structure 1) Always have two sharpened pencils for class. 2) Raise hand for permission before going to the pencil sharpener. 3) Sharpen and return quickly and quietly to your area. MOD 3 CHAMPS 88 Your Class Management & Planning Questionnaire 1. Print out the survey found on the next slide or refer to the CHAMPS book. 2. Select the best answer for each survey question based on what you anticipate your class (student group) to be like. 3. If you are unsure, select the middle answer. Note: Your answers to the survey may be based on what you know about the district demographics as well as your previous experiences in the classroom. While this survey is only met to be used as a guide, it is important to note that all students will be able to perform in a high structure setting, but not all students can manage an adequate level of focused engaged learning in a classroom that is of a middle or low level structured management setting.
