Most graded modules have the same assessment format and are specifically designed to be predictable while allowing multiple student learning styles to succeed. Most weeks follow the format below: On your own, but before class on Monday finish a video quiz and learn key terms using Quizlet. Monday begins the first day of the module lecture. Arrive ready for iClicker questions and learning. On your own, but before class on Wednesday review and learn all Quizlet terms for the module. In class on Wednesday we will cover the most difficult module concepts for the week. On your own, but before class on Friday finish your mini assignment and study all module materials in detail. In class on Friday we will tie module concepts together and allow ample time for questions. ATTENDANCE & CONTRIBUTION FOR IN-HOUSE STUDENTS Nutrition is an exciting field that warrants lots of discussion. If you choose to attend class, we will use iClickers to get the conversation going with an "understanding check" 1 point of extra credit is awarded every class period where you have successfully engaged using your iClicker The instructor will also pose questions to students in class and ask students to respond by raising their hands and with specific verbal responses. Additional extra credit may be granted during those exchanges. CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE Because this is a large lecture class, it is very important that all students maintain themselves in a polite and courteous manner. Respect your classmates by refraining from excessive side conversation that is not on topic. Please arrive and leave class at the times scheduled. It is extremely disruptive to have people coming and going from the auditorium at random times. Cell phones, computers, etc. must be silenced before class begins. During the course of the semester, during lecture you are free to sit in the balcony. Unfortunately, food and drink are prohibited in Foellinger Auditorium. EXTRA CREDIT FOR ATTENDANCE Although the lecture outlines are posted in Compass, regular attendance and participation is strongly recommended for both in-house and online students as many of the course hints, case studies (stories), and review iClicker questions will be highlighted in class. If you choose to attend, being present and engaged during lecture MWF will put you at a significant advantage for assessments. Additionally, in-house students can earn 1+ points of extra credit for every day of attendance and successful iClicker responses. Thus, you can earn over 40 points of extra credit by arriving on time ready to learn with iClicker in hand! Unfortunately, it is counted as an absence and extra credit points cannot be granted if a student: · does not have an iClicker or forgets their iClicker or knowingly brings a non-working iClicker · comes more than 5 min late or leaves more than 5 min early · is disruptive (texting, sleeping, talking loudly) NOTE: iClicker points are posted every two weeks. It is a student's responsibility to check iClicker grades and come to the Tutoring Center to get it resolved within 1 week of any incorrect/missing grades posting.
